It’s been an eventful October and I’m surprised that I actually have time to sit down and put this post together. Lots of new gear this month not including the iPhone 5s I barely picked up in late September such as the new MacBook Air 2013, a police radar detector, Canon S110, and the iPad Air on November 1st (review coming soon!). We also went hiking twice in October thanks to the nice weather change in Southern California where it’s not as scorching hot as it was during the summertime!
About a weekend right after the release of the iPhone 5s, people are STILL waiting in line for this thing. Sure it’s faster than the iPhone 5 and the Touch ID concept is pretty cool but there really isn’t that much incentive to jump to the 5s, but whatever… everyone loves a new Apple product, myself included.
Picked up the new Macbook Air 13-inch 2013 model with the Haswell chipset. Has a kickasss 12 hour battery life which is for real. Sold my Retina 13-inch with all the reasons explained here
I usually get the highest end Macbook Air since I intend to use this for a couple of years
What’s the difference between the 2012 and 2013 Macbook Air? Definitely not the packaging!
Here it is in all it’s glory. You can get a lot done with just a smartphone alone these days but with a thin and light notebook such as the Macbook Air, you can practically run your entire business if you wanted to.
I finally got around to trying Lemonade for the first time even though I live only 5 minutes away from the one in Pasadena. It’s really healthy and the do control the portions very well… but it’s a bit pricey if you ask me.
Went to check out the 53rd Anniversary of the Pasadena Ice House Comedy Club. Love going here for some cheap laughs and good entertainment.
Waiting for the show to start
And here we go! Stopped taking pictures right after to avoid bringing attention to myself so the comics don’t pick on me! We had a great time as usual and the comics were great!
Lots of interesting buildings on the way home from the Icehouse Comedy Club.
Pasadena is really pretty at night
The new Urth Cafe in Pasadena! Too bad they don’t serve food after 4PM or something. They close the kitchen early! Hope this changes soon since they have pretty good food.
Went out for some Korean food. We like Young Dong in San Gabriel. They have really good ban chan here
The Galbi and soon-tofu here is excellent
Went to Houston’s for the first time in like 10 years. Prime rib here is nomolicious
Lots of good new anime this season. I’m watching Walkure Romanze here. I’m also watching Strike the Blood, Golden Time, Magi Season 2, etc… My personal favorite this season is…
Unbreakable Machine Doll!
Scenes like these are PRICELESS!
Enjoyed some pizza with friends at Stella Barra in Santa Monica
Tom Yum Noodle Soup and Soy Chicken at My Vegan in Pasadena is the greatest thing on earth. I gotta have it at least twice a month
Karo makes really awesome fruit arrangements. From something simple as a few apple slices and oranges
Or something a little more extravagant!
Spigen makes really good cases. Picked one up for my iPhone 5s at Amazon
Lily posing for the camera. She knows exactly what to do when someone points a camera at her!
Had Himalayan Cafe in Old Town Pasadena for dinner. Can’t go wrong with the food here!
Had some pizzookies at BJs for dessert!
I can eat simple, classic ramen such as this anytime of the day
This was on clearance at Best Buy. The Cobra iRadar works pretty well in conjunction with the mobile app. Since I will be driving more often at longer distances, this should keep me out of trouble!
Quick lunch at Tasty Garden for good, inexpensive Cantonese food
Getting my gear ready for my drive out to San Luis Obispo
I really like Staying at the Apple Farm Inn. People make fun of me calling it “Grandma’s House” because of the decor but I usually have a good experience here
This is where I’m sleeping for a few days
Splash’s breadbowl clam chowder is handsdown the BEST I’ve had. Even better than the one’s in San Francisco!
The Central Coast also has really good Japanese food. I recommend Kai Lana sushi in Atascadero
Quick breakfast before checking out of the Apple Farm
Don’t forget to pick up a jar of Apple Butter before leaving! Makes instant apple pie when you spread it on bread!
We went for a hike with friends in Temescal Canyon
Pat’s Canon T2i out in the wild
This place has some pretty nice views and it’s not too bad of a hike
Me and Karo resting after our hike
I always wanted the Sony RX100, even now with the second generation of that camera already out but it’s still too expensive for me. I found a REALLY great deal on the MacRumors forums for a Canon PowerShot S110 so I went for that instead!
I think it takes pretty good cat pictures!
Went for another hike but this time to Circle X Ranch which is around the Malibu area
We were dog sitting so we decided to bring them with us. Panda had to make a quick pit stop on the way
Panda posing for the camera so I can test out my new Canon S110
This was one hell of a hike. Didn’t really have breakfast and we were hungry
Looking good for the camera
Halloween was just around the corner. Saw this setup in Old Town Pasadena
Sandwiches at Backstreet in Riverside is somewhere you need to stop by if you are around the area. Their “special” which is a combination of roast beef and pastrami is a killer sandwich
I’m usually not a dessert person but I absolutely love their banana cream pie!
Karo carved out a watermelon jack-o-lantern for Halloween!
Our hosts for our Halloween BBQ get-together. This is actually how they normally dress… well not really.
Karo setting up the table. She made everything you see here on the table from the jack-o-lantern, potato salad, fruit arrangement, and the salad!
Table is ready!
And here we are in our full gear!
Everyone had nice costumes but our zombie friends went all out! Karo makes a cute school girl!
