One Minute Review – Razer Blade Stealth 2019 (Late 2019) with NVIDIA GTX 1650

Posted on December 19, 2019 by Louie Tran Posted in Daily News, Gadgets, Reviews Leave a comment

One Minute Review Version

Specs:

  • 13-inch FHD (1080) Matte Display, 4K touch screen option available
  • Intel Core i7 – 1065G7 10th Gen Ice Lake
  • NVIDIA GTX 1650 Max Q 4GB GDDR5
  • 16GB LPDDR4 3733 Mhz RAM (Not Upgradeable)
  • 512GB M.2 PCIe SSD Samsung PM981 (Upgradeable)
  • Ports: 1 USB-C, 1 Thunderbolt / USB-C, 2 USB 3.1 Type A
  • Weight 3.26 lbs / 1.48 kg

Like:

  • Excellent build quality
  • Track Pad is on par with the Apple’s MacBook Pro
  • Fast overall performance
  • Runs cool and quiet
  • Windows Hello face unlock works great
  • USB A ports are always appreciated, this has 2!
  • Can handle just about any AAA title in a 13-inch form factor – Shadow of Tomb Raider and Modern Warfare 2019? No problem!
  • Good, bright and easy to read screen
  • Good battery life for productivity
  • Built in speakers sound good, although not as good as the MacBook Pro 13.
  • Decent keyboard, except for the misplaced Right Shift Key
  • Hard drive and WiFi card are upgradeable
  • Great for plane rides, gaming on the go, and a good overall productivity / work laptop
  • No ugly green glowing snake logo – great for working adults!
  • Almost no compromise portable solution

Don’t Like:

  • Screen is at 60hz – for a gaming laptop at this price it should at least be over 100hz
  • Right Shift Key will infuriate you. May not seem like a big deal until you type out a question. Trust me, you will freak out. Thankfully you can re-assign the key in Synapse
  • MSRP is $1799. Let that sink in.
  • Not a negative but I would like to see a 32GB RAM option!
  • Razer’s customer service is NOTORIOUS for being terrible, I recommend you buying this at a retailer with a good extended warranty

Recommend?

  • Yes if you want a good looking laptop with excellent build quality that can play games in a 13 inch form factor
  • Yes if you want a good overall laptop with a GTX 1650 graphics card and price is not an issue for you
  • NO if you are looking at overall value! You can get a better laptop for less
  • NO because you are happy playing with your Nintendo Switch on the go and can leave your PC games at home!
  • NO because the next generation will have an RTX based graphics card and faster refresh rate

Gaming Laptop Recommendation – The Razer Blade (GeForce GTX 1060) 14″ HD Gaming Laptop (7th Gen Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD) – VR Ready

Posted on March 26, 2017 by Louie Tran Posted in Daily News, Gadgets Leave a comment

Looking for the best gaming laptop out there that doesn’t weigh and can play the latest games such as Mass Effect Andromeda or Nier: Automata? I’d totally recommend the Razer Blade 14. This thing is a beast but doesn’t look like a beast. It’s smaller than the MacBook Pro 2016 15 inch but definitely made more for gamers. It’s also professional looking enough to take to work and get some work done. Multitask between Outlook, Excel, Word, and some games with ease.

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060, 512GB PCIe SSD and 16GB RAM provides desktop-grade performance in a laptop for even the most intensive gaming – even on the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive
  • extremely thin (0.7″) CNC aluminum chassis, weighing in only at 4.16 lbs
  • Get the best gaming experience with an incredible 14″ IPS Full HD display
  • World’s most advanced gaming notebook with Chroma anti-ghosting keyboard and Killer Wireless AC
  • Thunderbolt 3 – The one port that does it all with Thunderbolt, USB, and DisplayPort over USB-C

iVoler 75W USB Type C Charger Review for Macbook Razer Blade Steath and More

Posted on June 11, 2016 by Louie Tran Posted in Daily News, Gadgets, Reviews 3 Comments

My review on the iVoler… I keep calling it iVolver in the video! Really good alternative to the stock Macbook and Razer Blade Stealth charger as it also allows you to charge 3 other standard USB-A devices on top of the 1 60W USB-C Port.

My only gripe is that you need to buy a separate USB-C cable and you need to make sure you get the right cable that will work with your USB-C device so please do your research on the cables!

Retina Macbook 2016 vs Razer Blade Stealth Speakers

Posted on May 30, 2016 by Louie Tran Posted in Daily News, Gadgets, Reviews 1 Comment

Speaker Comparison between the 12-inch Retina Macbook and the Razer Blade Stealth. Both of these speakers sound very close and are the two best ultrabooks out in the market today. Which sounds better? You be the judge!

Innergie PowerGear USB C 45 – Will it Work on the Razer Blade Stealth?

Posted on February 20, 2016 by Louie Tran Posted in Daily News, Gadgets, Reviews 1 Comment

As you have seen in my previous video, I haven’t been successful in charging my Razer Blade Stealth with the Macbook USB Charger or conventional USB-A to USB-C chargers. Due to my OCD, I like keeping a charger at work, one at home and one for travel. Since Razer still doesn’t have the official stealth charger available. I went ahead and ordered the Innergie PowerGear USB-C Charger. I am quite pleased that it works!

If you would like to order one to charge your Razer Blade Stealth, Macbook or any USB-C device, you can get it directly from Innergie or you can also order it from Amazon here: http://amzn.to/1SDDaLF

Razer Blade Stealth Review

Posted on February 13, 2016 by Louie Tran Posted in Daily News, Gadgets, Reviews 1 Comment

My review on the Razer Blade Stealth – without the Razer Core. Sorry for spacing out a few times, allergies are killing me.

Quick Summary of what I like and don’t like:

Like:

– Excellent build quality, feels absolutely solid
– Thin and light without any sacrifice to productivity performance
– Keyboard is similar to Retina Macbook keyboard but feels less “shallow” – some people will feel that this is better, I personally do
– Customizable light keyboard
– Although not fan-less, it runs quiet for the most part
– 2 USB 3.1 ports, 1 USB-C, Audio port, and full sized HDMI. Come on Apple…
– QHD 2560×1440 on this 12.5 inch screen looks fantastic
– Blown away by the stereo speakers. Were you impressed with the Retina Macbook speakers? You will be very impressed with these as well
– Excellent overall value, even as a standalone ultrabook

Don’t Like

– Can’t charge with external battery pack, like the Mac can
– Casing is a fingerprint magnet
– 8GB RAM not upgradeable and no option for 16GB
– Core add-on is unavailable at launch, not even the pricing

TL;DR?? – Yes I would recommended it if you are in the market of an excellent thin and light notebook. Will have to revisit this once the Razer CORE is ever released.

If you want to upgrade the hard drive follow these links:

Successfully Installed Samsung 950 Pro M.2 on Razer Blade Stealth

Posted on February 8, 2016 by Louie Tran Posted in Daily News, Gadgets, How To 2 Comments

DSC02075

I am happy to report that I have successfully replaced the stock 256GB PM951 drive with the 512GB Samsung 950 PRO using the steps below taken from the Notebook Review forums here:http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr…-review-swapping-instructions-cloning.771316/

Before you start, just remember that opening the bottom panel to access the hard drive may VOID YOUR WARRANTY so please do this at your own risk. You are going to need a Torx 5 screwdriver and the set I used can be purchased here from Amazon: http://amzn.to/1SYcbZO

The Samsung 950 PRO can be purchased here: http://amzn.to/1SYcjIU

How I cloned to these drives:

  1. Use Macrium to create WinPE bootable recovery USB key flash drive.
  2. Use Macrium to create a FULL PARTITION BACKUP of your Blade’s original drive onto anexternal USB drive that can hold it.
  3. Put the new empty drive in the blade, as above.
  4. Boot the Macrium WinPE USB key: (hold F12 on boot when prompted to choose boot drive)
  5. Select “Restore”, Choose the backup file on the USB drive from step 2.
  6. Choose the empty drive you installed in the Razer as the destination.
  7. Restore away, will take some time depending on the speed of your USB drive.
  8. Power down, disconnect all the USB stuff and try to boot.
  9. If it works, YAY, if it doesn’t.. I had to do this other stuff as well…
  10. Reconnect your Macrium USB recovery KEY, boot from that again, this time without the old drive connected over USB
  11. Attempt to fix the Windows boot problems again (same menu option). This time, it should actually work with all green checks.
  12. Try to boot again, should work this time.
  13. Thanks @mario64, they had to use AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition 5.6 to extend the new partition to the full free space of the drive.

Things to note:

  • Macium reflex makes backup and restore incredibly easy. It will back up all the partitions, INCLUDING a PERFECT copy of the Recovery partition on the stock drive
  • When booting into the Macrium WinPE USB drive, the mouse for some reason doesn’t work. You will need to do everything on the touch screen. Don’t worry! It is touch friendly!!!
  • After successfully restoring, you will notice that your new drive will have only 256GB instead of 512GB… Don’t worry! Follow Step 13 above to fix that! Just Merge the partitions using the Partition Assistant Software!
  • New drive is screaming fast!

Razer Blade Stealth vs Asus ROG G752 vs iPad Pro Speakers

Posted on February 8, 2016 by Louie Tran Posted in Daily News, Gadgets 1 Comment

Just recently picked up the new Razer Blade Stealth after selling my 12-inch Macbook. This will now be my traveling laptop for now and I am loving it so far. Review will be coming soon. However, I did a speaker comparison speaker comparison between the Razer Blade Stealth, Asus G762, and the iPad Pro.

Video and sound recorded using the Sony RX100m3 camera. I don’t have any fancy recording equipment and please excuse the poor lighting.
