This is My Workspace June 2018

Posted on June 19, 2018 by Louie Tran Posted in Daily News, Gadgets, Geek Life, Workspaces Leave a comment

Been awhile since I posted anything about my workspace. This is currently my desk now!  I’ll put together a video on my home office in the near future! I try to keep everything neat as possible but sometimes I get the unavoidable clutter. Also my cable management under the desk is sort of a mess so I left that out of the photo. Here’s the gear I’m currently rockin which you can click directly to Amazon:

  • Ikea Standing Desk
  • HP Pavilion 32-Inch Quad HD Display
  • MacBook Pro 15 Inch 2016 with Touchbar
  • Macbook Pro HUB QacQoc GN28K Type-C Adapter for 2016/2017 MacBook Pro
  • Logitech K750 Wireless Solar Keyboard
  • Logitech M510 Wireless Mouse
  • Logitech MX Anywhere 2S Wireless Mouse (when I’m on the go)
  • Blue Yeti USB Microphone – Blackout Edition
  • Sony RX100 III Digital Camera
  • Sony Alpha a6300 Mirrorless Digital Camera 4K
  • Beats X Wireless Headphones
  • Apple iPhone X Space Gray Unlocked

I really miss having a dedicated Windows machine and I’m currently running it on my Mac using Bootcamp. Might get a Surface Book 15 Inch or the Razer Blade 15 2018 in the near future… maybe!

Gaming Laptop Recommendation – The Razer Blade (GeForce GTX 1060) 14″ HD Gaming Laptop (7th Gen Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD) – VR Ready

Posted on March 26, 2017 by Louie Tran Posted in Daily News, Gadgets Leave a comment

Looking for the best gaming laptop out there that doesn’t weigh and can play the latest games such as Mass Effect Andromeda or Nier: Automata? I’d totally recommend the Razer Blade 14. This thing is a beast but doesn’t look like a beast. It’s smaller than the MacBook Pro 2016 15 inch but definitely made more for gamers. It’s also professional looking enough to take to work and get some work done. Multitask between Outlook, Excel, Word, and some games with ease.

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060, 512GB PCIe SSD and 16GB RAM provides desktop-grade performance in a laptop for even the most intensive gaming – even on the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive
  • extremely thin (0.7″) CNC aluminum chassis, weighing in only at 4.16 lbs
  • Get the best gaming experience with an incredible 14″ IPS Full HD display
  • World’s most advanced gaming notebook with Chroma anti-ghosting keyboard and Killer Wireless AC
  • Thunderbolt 3 – The one port that does it all with Thunderbolt, USB, and DisplayPort over USB-C

You can pick up the Razer Blade 14 here: http://amzn.to/2nlqYDI

The Geek’s Mobile Gear 2014

Posted on August 14, 2014 by Louie Tran Posted in Daily News, Gadgets, Workspaces Leave a comment

Working in running a region of six sales teams in the telecommunications industry involves lots of travel but at the same time it gives me the opportunity to utilize a lot of mobile tech which is what I love to play with anyway.

I like to say that the world is my office since I work just about everywhere – not just from a desk but from the floor, to a bench, in a car, on a plane, etc… and there’s no way in hell that I’m going to be able to carry my 27-inch iMac with me.  So here’s a look at my ever changing mobile gear – my home away from home! Workspace at Work

So after over a one month hiatus from this site, I’m slowing trying to get back in the groove of things. I’ve been traveling quite a bit from work, plus the holidays, New Year’s, etc I had no time to do anything with this site.

The workspace above is my actual office at work. It has stayed the same like this for over six years. Empty walls, nothing really personal about my desk. Frankly I don’t really care. My philosophy behind this in the beginning was that I do not want to get too comfortable and situated because I will be getting promoted or even move on to greater things outside of the company. It may sound a little bit arrogant but if I did personalize my desk at work, etc… then I will feel like I have made my home in the same position. All I have on my desk are my work computer (UGH), desk phone and my Macbook Air to do things that the Lenovo work laptop can’t do, which is a lot of things.

Anyway good news is that I’ve been promoted 4 times already at this job for. The irony is that I’ve stayed at the same desk!

Patio Workspace!

Patio Workspace

Sometimes, the day is too nice to be indoors so I bring out the 13-inch MacBook Retina and work outside! Sure it’s no comparison to the 27-inch iMac I have in the office but it’s always good to get some fresh air every now and then. If I wanted to, I could just do most of my work off the Samsung Galaxy S4 and throw my feet on the table, but since these are work hours, I have to be a little bit more work conscious even if this is at home!

What’s in a Geek’s Mobile Life?

Posted on November 28, 2012 by Louie Tran Posted in Daily News, Gadgets, Geek Life Leave a comment

This has been one crazy year as I have been changing my gadgets like how women change their shoes and purses! I would say that in the past 6 months, almost all of my gadgets have been refreshed and a lot of it has to do with the way I work. I used to work at home and in the office more often but now I’m out in the field quite a bit so I need a lot of power (I’m talking both battery life and system performance) on the go these days. 2011 wasn’t really an impressive year, but 2012 has been a great leap for mobile tech for both work and play. This is what I have been working with recently…

Cable Organization: Cleaning Up the Rat’s Nest – Home Office

Posted on January 8, 2012 by Louie Tran Posted in Workspaces 2 Comments

During the late afternoon, I cleaned up the Rat’s Nest of Cables in the living room so I decided to clean up the mess in my home office too (pictured above). This was a much more challenging project because there are a lot more devices involved with wires and cables just about everywhere. It was indeed a scary sight especially with loads of dust all over the place!!!  Continue reading→

How a Humidifier Changed My Life!

Posted on December 10, 2011 by Louie Tran Posted in Daily News, Gadgets, How To 3 Comments

I moved from Guam to California in 1998 and to this day, still haven’t gotten used to the dry air especially at night when I sleep. I’ve have pretty bad allergies and the dryness of the air makes it very difficult to sleep several nights which makes me wake up feeling tired. Now that it’s winter, this is when things get really bad. Allergies act up and skin gets really dry especially with the heater being on to stay warm.

I finally got around to getting a humidifier and chose something small to start out with and boy what a huge difference it made! I slept for 9 hours straight without needing to wake up with a clogged nose and my skin isn’t as dry when I’m at home! I bought the Holmes Ultrasonic Teapot Humidifier for $29.99 and it’s perfect for nightstands in the bedroom or in a small office. I’m thinking of getting one more for my home office (so I don’t have to switch back and forth with the bedroom), and one for my office at work. I may even invest in a much larger humidifier for the living room. Highly recommended! Totally improved my life!
