The phablet levels up

Today at the IFA 2014, Samsung announces a handful of new devices. One of them, the ultimate anti-iPhone known as the Galaxy Note 4.

Once mocked for being ridiculously oversized, Samsung’s Note series has proven its relevance in the smart device market which is why the Note 4 has been highly anticipated prior to any announcements. The Galaxy Note 4 is Samsung’s latest flagship phone will be available this fall across the world including all four of the major US carriers.

iPhone 5s Review

Apple iPhone 5s Review: “S” is for “Same” but also for “SPEED”

With every “S” release of the iPhone, there really are no Surprises as every numerical revision comes with the expected improvement in speed, camera performance, and at least one special feature. The 3GS boosted speed, the 4S also boosted speed, brought in an 8-megapixel camera, and Siri, and now the 5S pretty much has the same upgrades. Building off of last year’s iPhone 5, the 5s brings overall improvement in speed, camera quality, and its ace feature being the much talked about finger print sensor for Touch ID. Is this enough to the best phone in the market? Or better yet, is it even worth upgrading from your iPhone 5? Let’s find out!  Continue reading→

TekNmotion Airhead BT Stereo Headphones Review

Wireless Stereo Bluetooth headsets have been around for a while but it’s very hard to find one with good sound quality, comfort, design, and price. There’s a variety out in the market tailored to those on the go which pairs to a cell phone for wireless talking and listening to music but there’s not that many that tailor to gamers and audiophiles who don’t want any sacrifices in quality. I’ve reviewed the Beats Wireless and have been disappointed and have played with Parrot’s Zik, which was way out of my budget (retails at $400), and now I come across the TekNmotion AIRHEAD BT, which retails around $50 – $60.

TekNmotion is not that well known but they have been making peripherals for smartphones and PCs such as headphones and speakers for quite some time. Let’s see if the Airhead BT is suitable for the gamer and geek.

iPad Mini Review

Posted on November 7, 2012 by Louie Tran Posted in Daily News, Gadgets, Reviews 1 Comment

Rumors of Apple developing a smaller tablet have been going around since the release of the very first iPad. Four generations later, the iPad mini has arrived in what is now a highly competitive market in the tablet world. Apple currently reigns supreme with each reincarnation of its iconic 9.7-inch tablet, but it faces tough competition from devices such as the Kindle Fire, Nook, and the Google Nexus 7 at very attractive price points and more portable designs. Apple has now fired back with the release of the iPad mini.

At 7.9-inches, with a lower resolution and slower processor than the retina iPads, and at a non-competitive starting price point of $330, does this current iPad have any relevance in this market? Lets find out.

iPhone 5 Review

Posted on September 25, 2012 by Louie Tran Posted in Daily News, Gadgets, Reviews 1 Comment

Apple has revolutionized and dominated the smart phone market since the original iPhone debuted in 2007 drawing in millions of sales just days after each release. The first model brought us mobile web and music like we’ve never seen before. The iPhone 3G took apps to another level, while the 3GS boosted speed and gaming, the iPhone 4 boasted a gorgeous retina screen and industrial design, and the 4S was an enhancement of everything that was great about the 4 with a better camera, speed, and Siri.

Quite a bit has changed this past year in the smartphone market and a lot of Apple’s competitors have aggressively stepped up on their game with impressive products such as the Samsung Galaxy S III (which I really enjoy using) and the upcoming Nokia Lumia 920 running Windows Phone 8 (which I am really looking forward to). What is Apple bringing to the table in 2012 to compete with these?

We were already expecting a longer screen, a better camera, a thinner design, LTE capabilities, a faster processor, etc… and guess what? We got EXACTLY what we were expecting. Many will argue that Apple may have lost its edge on innovation in this incarnation of the iPhone. But what more can you possibly do to make one the best phones even better? Let’s take a look at this year’s iPhone 5…
