Since we ended off in the previous edition of Geek Like, it sounded like I was very satisfied with my HTC One. Unfortunately knowing myself, I can never be satisfied with just one device. I have been rotating between the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4 frequently and am trying out the new iOS7 on the iPhone 5. Just right after I had my HTC One for a few days, I had to have it sent back because of a dead pixel on the screen and spent more time with the S4. At first it was frustrating to use because of all the bloat and lag but after flashing the GoldenEye ROM which includes several speed tweaks, bloatware removal and Apps2SD support, the Galaxy S4 is now where I want it to be. I like the S4 because it is very thin and light and has expandable memory and battery along with solid performance. I like the HTC One because it takes great low light photos, very sharp screen, and great out of the box performance without any tweaking required. Then there’s the iOS7… as it is right now I hate it. Design looks cheesey and it’s basically trying to play catch up with Android and Windows Mobile 8 by implementing a lot of characteristics of its competitors including WebOS. There’s still no updated keyboard and widget support and it definitely isn’t the upgrade we were all hoping for. That’s an entirely separate topic in itself so lets get on with our Geek Life… Continue reading
