In case you missed it, the moment all Mac and Finalcut Pro fanboys and fan girls have been waiting for… Apple has released a spec bumped upgrade to their MacBook Pro 13 and 15 inch with Touch Bar. The biggest changes are:
- 8th Generation Intel CPU 6 core on the 15 inch, and 4 core on the 13 inch
- Now up to 32GB RAM!
- Now up to 4TB SSD, possibly the fastest transfer rate available
- Supposedly an improved and quieter keyboard
- Truetone Display
The videocard is still the AMD Radeon 560 and display resolution is 2560×1600 native at 277ppi so if you are looking for better graphics performance, it’s the same as last years. If you max out the specs, you’ll be paying whopping $6699 plus tax. Majority of that cost is $3200 to add on the 4TB of SSD!
With the new MacBook Pro release, Blackmagic has also released their eGPU powered by the (non removable) AMD Radeon Pro 580 graphics card with 8GB of DDR5 RAM for $699. Keep in mind that any Thunderbolt 3 MacBook Pros running high Sierra is needed to support an eGPU which includes the Razer Core.
