My review on the Apple AirPods. Also, thanks to everyone’s feedback, I finally invested in a Yeti Mic and the voice overs should sound a lot better.
Sure there’s a ton of lengthy articles of why people have switched from iPhone to whatever Android device, I am going to skip that and show you my biggest reason. The Note 2’s screen is awesome. At first I thought it was overkill and silly carrying a device as large as the Note 2, but after getting used to the size of the phablet, going back to an S3 and even an iPhone 5 was almost unbearable. I have to hold the phone close to my face to read it on it! Also the Note 2 eliminated my need of having to carry around an iPad Mini which ironically helps me travel lighter. On the go, all I need is my MacBook Pro 13″ Retina and my Note 2 and I’m all set. No need to carry an extra tablet, charger, and screen cover. And if I need more battery life, I can just carry an extra battery!
Other great selling points on the Note 2 and most Android phones:
I still think the iPhone is great. I love the form factor and ease of one handed use, but the Note 2 better suits my needs! Hope Apple impresses with the next iPhone!
Wireless Stereo Bluetooth headsets have been around for a while but it’s very hard to find one with good sound quality, comfort, design, and price. There’s a variety out in the market tailored to those on the go which pairs to a cell phone for wireless talking and listening to music but there’s not that many that tailor to gamers and audiophiles who don’t want any sacrifices in quality. I’ve reviewed the Beats Wireless and have been disappointed and have played with Parrot’s Zik, which was way out of my budget (retails at $400), and now I come across the TekNmotion AIRHEAD BT, which retails around $50 – $60.
TekNmotion is not that well known but they have been making peripherals for smartphones and PCs such as headphones and speakers for quite some time. Let’s see if the Airhead BT is suitable for the gamer and geek.
If you’re a fan of RPGs, chances are you’re definitely a fan of Final Fantasy. The music, the story, and the characters from each game has touched the hearts of gamers for about two decades. Square Enix has ported a few titles over to the iOS platform, which have done quite well such as Final Fantasy I and II, and Final Fantasy Tactics.
So here we have Final Fantasy All the Bravest. You take all the final fantasy classes in all the classic games such as the dark mage, white mage, archers, dragoons and you put them against all the enemies in an Active (turn-based) Time Battle with up to 30 fighters on the screen. Sounds like an awesome concept right? Well that’s where the awesomeness stops.
I’ve been using Jaybird JF3 Stereo Bluetooth Headset for almost exactly a year now and they have been great. Great for the gym and working out but not for everyday practical use. It’s 2012 now and there still isn’t that wide of a selection of stereo bluetooth headsets that are decent. A coworker of mine had a unique, yet very cool looking headset which was the LG Tone HBS 700 and he swears by the. I found a pair on Frys.com for $48.99 and have been very satisfied with them so far! The Klipsch S4i Headphones have been around for at least a couple of years and they still retail at around $99 which is why I never got around to buying them. These have been rated pretty high from people over at CNET, Gizmodo, and many users at Amazon. I haven’t had any first hand experience with these until today and now I see why these are held in such high regard. Continue reading→
Chrono Trigger is out for iOS! Just loaded it and played for about 15 minutes and so far it feels really nostalgic. Supposedly this has the add-ons from the DS but unfortunately doesn’t control as well. I think it will take awhile to either get used to the D-Pad on the touch screen or become frustrated with it (happened a lot when I played Secret of Mana) but for an iOS device, this seems like the only option. Music sounds excellent but the graphics are not really optimized for the retina display. Hopefully they will fix that on a future update. I’m just excited that I get to relive some of my childhood this weekend!
