Geek Life February to Mid March 2013

PT Smartcase for Note II

I don’t get the chance to post as often as I want to these days but I do update my Flickr and Instagram pretty frequently so you can see a lot of my food porn on both of them. If you haven’t noticed already I’ve switched from using the iPhone 5 and am now proudly sporting a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 which better suits my needs because of the customization, larger screen, and expandable capabilities. Although the iPhone 5 is a nice phone, I like most people have gotten bored of it and tired of Apple’s restrictions on how I can use my phone. I love the fact that I can load as many songs and videos I want in several different formats and it’s great that I can pop in a 32GB MicroSD card and not worry about space. I like it so much that I’ve pretty much broken free of the Apple eco-system and eliminated the need for having an iPad Mini because it was redundant having both. The Note 2 is good enough to cover both the phone and the tablet for my uses. The eco-system thing is all hype anyway. I have no issues surviving without iMessage which can easily be substituted with apps like LINE or Facebook Chat. The people who matter to me have them already and if they don’t, they like me enough to install them! PhotoStream was an annoyance and uploading photos to Dropbox is a better solution. I could go on and on but people who gave Android a chance and love it have already said the same things over and over.

This session of Geek Life covers the usual food, tech, and I also went to Mardis Gras in New Orleans as well as take a cruise to the West Caribbean! Don’t worry, I wasn’t stranded on that Carnival Cruise! Read more…

Geek Life – August 13th – August 31st

I know it’s already September but was quite a lot of activity within the dates listed above. Lots of work, people had birthdays, went to Vegas for another Birthday, scored a new watch and managed to get a lot of good meals in between!  Read more…

Geek Life – August 1st – August 12th

Galaxy S3 playing Metal Slug 2 while hooked up to the TV with PS3 controller! Ever see an iPhone do that? NO!

Quite a few activities within these two weeks leaving me little time to update this site. I know I say that every time but it’s true! I went out for a hike in Burbank, CA, went to the Dodgers game in a VIP suite for work, and of course had great food as always. I did get an HDMI cable for the Galaxy S3 to run emulators off of it and onto the plasma TV while having it paired to a PS3 controller! Read more…

Geek Life – July 23rd to July 31st

I am such a geek, reading nothing but tech magazines at Barnes and Nobles!

I know I’m a bit late on my Geek Life postings as I have been busy with work and been out and about almost every single day. Even on weekends there’s always something to do especially in the city of Pasadena. Went to a wedding, then to the 626 Night Market, and then caught a show at the Pasadena Ice House featuring Jen Kober from Curb Your Enthusiasm all in one day! I hardly have any time for anime, games, and gadgets anymore!

Geek Life – July 15th – July 22nd

Sunset in Manhattan Beach

This was a very busy week so I really didn’t have that much time to play with any new technology or gadgets but I finally did manage to upgrade my 5 year old Panasonic 42 inch plasma TV (720p) to a new Samsung 46″ LED 3DTV! Had to make a little time  to review the LG Tone HBS-700 Bluetooth Stereo Headset as well. During the weekend I went and saw Batman – Dark Knight Rises, go to the Hawaiian Festival in Lawndale, catch the sunset at Manhattan Beach, and finally have Chicken and Waffles at Roscoe’s in Pasadena! Still working on remodeling my living room but that should be done next week! Read more…

Geek Life – The Geek in July 1st to July 14th

Celebrating July 4th in -4F Weather in Los Angeles! I guess the heat caused Yahoo’s computers to freak out

Quite a few highlights in the first few weeks of July starting from Independence Day, Anime Expo, and the release of the Samsung Galaxy S3 on the American LTE networks. Of course there were other things happening in between as well such as work, food, and life in general! I was also testing the HTC One X and the Samsung Galaxy S3 to compare how it stands up to the best phone of 2011. So far I have been embracing Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich while waiting on Apple’s next generation iPhone. So far there hasn’t been anything that impressive of iOS6 and I am more excited about Android’s JellyBean. Read more…

Geek Life – The Geek in June 2012

The MacBook Pro 2011 Setup

I’ve been thinking about doing a weekly or bi-weekly photoblog on the exciting life of a geek (yes me) so I’m going to start with the entire month of June on how the world is seen through my eyes! I’ve had a huge overhaul in my gear  over the past few months and most of it is because I’m on the road more than ever so portability is more of a priority over power. So I went from a 15″ MacBook Pro to an 11″ Air. Been pretty busy in June just barely coming back from Catalina Island and then a few weeks later headed off to San Luis Obispo. Even though it’s all within California, there was a lot of tech and gadgets to utilize, food to eat, and sites to see.

Another Food Round Up!

Published on May 20, 2012 by in Food, Photography

Has food replaced my love for technology? Hardly. It’s just that I’ve been eating so well lately and love sharing how beautiful food can be! Some of these photos were taken with the iPhone 4S camera and some were taken with the Sony NEX-C3. Can you tell the difference?

Even More Food!

Published on May 15, 2012 by in Food, Photography

Here’s some more foodporn for you to enjoy! The Eggs, spam, and broccoli cheese dish and Asian Fusion Pasta were home made by Karo. I also finally transitioned over from iPhoto to Aperture and it’s awesome especially when I have even more ways to manipulate and post process the photos that I take. Aperture may look intimidating at first but it is so easy to use and will make a photographer with the minimal experience such as myself look like a pro!

Pasadena Rose Parade 2012

The world famous Pasadena Rose Parade has been going on since 1890 which was initially held by people who formally lived in the Midwest and East Coast who moved to Pasadena to show off how awesome the California weather is during the winter time. In 1902, The Tournament of Roses added a football event which is the first post season football game and they have been doing that ever since. Anyway, that’s enough history and you can read about it on the Tournament of Roses website. These are the pictures that I took this year. I apologize for some of the crappy photos taken. It was extremely crowded and I was in an area with bad lighting!
